Inbound Vulnerability Evaluation (IVE) is a security vulnerability testing cloud service designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) but it is useful for a company of any size and industry.
IVE is essential for you, if at least one of the following is true:
- you have a website or plan to create one (either hosted on your own servers or using some website hosting services);
- you allow your customers or partners/vendors to access some of your systems over the Internet;
- you allow your employees to get access to corporate email, project or document management systems or any other corporate systems from home or any other place;
- you develop software for your customers that will be used remotely over the Internet.
Internet opens possibilities for us to have a truly worldwide reach. But it is also increasingly insecure place to do business. According to the SANS Institute, survival time for unprotected systems connected to the Internet is less than 5 minutes - if you go unprotected, you become compromised in less than 5 minutes! And that is fully automatic, no special care taken by attackers.
I have up to date antivirus, firewall, Intrusion Prevention and other security systems - do I still need IVE?
Yes. Unfortunately, simply installing antivirus, firewall or any other security software on your computers is not enough to protect your business on the Internet. Each day comes with new vulnerabilities and flaws discovered in the software providing potential intruders with open gates to your systems. According to National Vulnerability Database website, on average more than 10 new CVE (unique vulnerability) publications are made each day. Also every time you change anything in your systems (install update, reconfigure something etc.), you may unwillingly expose yourself to new threats specific to that new state of the systems.
